elations between Hindu and Muslim communities, on the one hand, and Hindu and Christian communities, on the other hand, have deteriorated sharply in the recent past in India. The conflict between these communities has resulted in frequent violence, mostly leading to attacks on members of both these minority communities. As a result, there is growing religious polarisation leading to a deepening of communal identities.
